Summary

Your workout history is stored on your device, and in your device backup if you use one. It is never uploaded or synced. The only thing the app sends is a crash report when something goes wrong, which you can turn off, and the Crash reporting section below lists exactly what it contains.

Data storage

Your workout programs, session history and preferences are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. It is never uploaded or synced to any server. If you use iCloud Backup or back up to a computer, it is included in that backup, which Apple handles, not us. Each device keeps its own data; nothing syncs between your iPhone and iPad.

Apple Health

If you grant permission, Anvil Workout writes workout sessions to Apple Health and reads calories burned and heart rate data. This data is handled entirely by Apple's HealthKit framework and stays within Apple's Health ecosystem. So your history can show them, Anvil keeps a copy of each workout's calories and average heart rate in its own on-device storage. It does not send Health data anywhere, and the CSV export does not include it.

Crash reporting

If the app crashes, hangs or hits an error, it sends a report to Sentry so we can find and fix the problem. Nothing is sent otherwise. A report contains:

• Device model and OS version
• App version and build number
• What went wrong: the error or the crash stack trace
• Recent app activity leading up to it, such as which screen was open and that a workout was running, without the names of your programs or exercises or any numbers from them
• A random identifier created on your device the first time the app runs, so one problem is counted once rather than many times. It is not linked to your name, Apple ID or email.

Reports never include your workouts, notes or Health data. Sentry is configured not to store IP addresses, and data is stored in its EU region. You can turn crash reporting off at any time in the app's Settings, under Privacy, and it stops straight away.

Analytics

The Anvil Workout iOS app does not use analytics or ad tracking and contains no ads.

This marketing website (anvilworkout.iamjarl.com) uses Umami, a privacy-respecting, cookieless analytics service, to count anonymous page visits. Umami does not use cookies, does not track visitors across sites, and collects no personal data. The collected data is limited to aggregate page-view counts, referrer, and general device/browser type.

Third-party services

The external services used are Sentry (crash reporting from the app) and Umami (anonymous visit counts on the marketing website). No data is shared with advertisers, data brokers, or any other third party.

Children's privacy

Anvil Workout does not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
